How to Download Facebook Videos and Reels in HD

To download a Facebook video or Reel in HD, copy the video's link from Facebook, paste it into VidGrabo's Facebook page and choose the HD option when it's offered. The video saves to your phone or computer as an MP4 file. This works for public videos and Reels, directly in the browser, without an app or an account.

The trickiest part on Facebook is usually getting the right link, because videos can sit in your feed, on a page, inside a group or in the Reels tab. This guide shows how to copy the link in each place, how to save the file on every device, and why some videos simply can't be downloaded.

Step by step: download a Facebook video with VidGrabo

  1. Find the video in the Facebook app or on the website.
  2. Copy its link using one of the methods in the next section.
  3. Open VidGrabo's Facebook downloader in your browser.
  4. Paste the link and tap the download button.
  5. Choose HD for the best picture, a lower quality to save space, or MP3 for the audio only.
  6. Save the file when your browser asks.

It's free, there's no sign-up, and nothing to install.

How to copy a Facebook video link

In the Facebook app

Tap the video so it opens full screen. Then tap Share and look for Copy link. If Share opens a long list of options, scroll the row of icons; Copy link is usually there. On some videos, the three dots (…) menu also has a copy option.

For Reels

Open the Reel, tap Share (or the three dots) and choose Copy link. Reel links work in VidGrabo the same way as regular video links.

On the Facebook website

Click the video's timestamp or open it in its own view so the address bar shows the video's address, then copy it. Alternatively, click Share under the video and choose Copy link. Avoid copying the address of your news feed or a page's main address, because those don't point to one specific video.

From pages and groups

Videos on a public page work like any other public post: open the video and copy its link. Groups are different. A video in a public group can usually be saved. A video in a private group is visible only to members, so it isn't publicly available and VidGrabo can't download it, even if you're a member yourself.

Not sure which link to copy in other apps? Our guide on how to copy a video link in any app covers the common menus.

Downloading on Android

Copy the link in the Facebook app, open your browser, go to VidGrabo and paste. After you pick a quality, the video is saved to the Downloads folder, and most phones show it in the Gallery as well. If you don't see it, check the Files app or your browser's download list.

Downloading on iPhone

Copy the link in Facebook, then open VidGrabo in Safari or another browser and paste it. Choose a quality and tap Download when Safari asks. The file is stored in the Files app under Downloads. To move it to Photos, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Video.

Downloading on a computer

On a computer, open the video on facebook.com, copy its link as described above, and paste it into VidGrabo in another tab. The MP4 file goes to your browser's download folder, usually Downloads. Longer Facebook videos are often large files, so a computer with a wired or strong Wi-Fi connection is a comfortable place to save them.

About HD quality

Facebook stores videos at several qualities. VidGrabo lists the ones available for that specific video:

  • HD appears when the uploader provided a high-resolution file. Choose it for large screens or editing.
  • SD or lower options are smaller and quicker to download, which is useful on mobile data.
  • If only lower qualities are shown, the original upload wasn't in HD, and there's no way to add detail that isn't there.

For more on resolutions and file sizes, see video quality explained.

Why some Facebook videos can't be saved

  • Privacy settings. Videos shared with "Friends" or a custom audience aren't public. Only posts set to Public can be downloaded.
  • Private groups. Content inside private groups is limited to members.
  • Live videos in progress. A broadcast that is still live isn't a finished file. Wait until it ends and the replay is posted.
  • Length limit. VidGrabo has a maximum video length, so very long replays or full-length uploads may be too long.
  • Deleted or restricted videos. If the video was removed, or is blocked in some countries or by age restrictions, it isn't publicly reachable.
  • Wrong link. Links to a profile, a page or a whole feed won't work. VidGrabo needs a link to one video.

A quick test: open the link in a private browser window where you're not logged in. If the video plays there, VidGrabo can normally save it. For more troubleshooting, read video download not working: fixes.

Download with permission

Many Facebook videos are personal: family events, local news shot by residents, small business promotions. Download only videos you own or have permission to use, and don't re-upload other people's content. If you're saving your own videos for safekeeping, that's exactly what a downloader is for. Our copyright page explains how VidGrabo handles rights questions.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to log in to Facebook to use VidGrabo?

No. VidGrabo only works with public videos, so it never asks for your Facebook login.

Can I download a video from a private group I belong to?

No. Private group content isn't public, so VidGrabo can't access it. If you posted the video yourself, you still have the original on your device or in your Facebook data.

Can I download only the audio from a Facebook video?

Yes. Choose MP3 instead of a video quality. This is handy for recorded talks or sermons you have permission to keep.

Does VidGrabo save my download history?

No. There's no history, and files are deleted from VidGrabo's servers automatically after a short time.

Conclusion

Once you know where to find the Copy link option, saving a public Facebook video or Reel in HD takes only a moment. Check that the post is public, paste one link at a time, and choose the quality that suits your screen and storage. When you're ready, open the Facebook downloader and paste your link.
